The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), commonly known as the Pusa Institute is India’s national Institute for agricultural research, education and extension. The name Pusa Institute is derived from the fact that the institute was originally located in Pusa Bihar as the Imperial Institute of Agricultural Research in 1911. It was then renamed as the Imperial Agricultural Research Institute in 1919 and following a major earthquake in Pusa, it was relocated to Delhi in 1936. The current institute in Delhi is financed and administered by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The IARI was responsible for the research leading to the “Green Revolution in India” of the 1970s.

Job Role: Project Associate/Project Assistant/Senior Research Fellow/Young Professional
Qualification : Bachelor’s Degree/ Master’s Degree
Salary: Rs. 25,000 – 49,000/ month
Principal Project Associate-I:
- MSc/MTech/ME/MCA in computer science/ Information Technology/Geomatics / Geo-informatics /Data Science/ System analysis/AI/ML/or equivalent from a recognized university/ institution with first class or >7.5% OGPA. 8-year experience in R&D/ Academic/ Science and Technology Organizations.
- Candidates should have done 4/5 years bachelor’s degree. Those with 3 years bachelor’s degree must have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET/ MHRD-GATE qualification or Ph.D in any of above disciplines. OR PhD degree in above subjects from a recognized university 4-year experience in R&D/ Academic/ Science and Technology Organizations Desirable: Proficiency in satellite data analysis, GIS tools, ArcGIS, Web GIS, GEE, and programming proficiency in C#, Java, Python, R, ASP, IDL programming languages, 3D graphics/animation/3-D modeling, and handling databases knowledge crop simulation models, and analysis of climate model data
Project Associate-II:
- MSc/MTech/ME/MCA in computer science/ Information Technology/Remote Sensing-GIS/Atmospheric science/Geomatics / Geoinformatics / Data Science/ System analyst/Agronomy/Plant Physiology/Soil Science or equivalent from a recognized university/ institution with first class or >7.5% OGPA. 2-year experience in R&D/ Academic/ Science and Technology Organizations. Should have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET/ MHRD-GATE qualification or passed National Level examinations conducted by Central Govt Departments and their agencies and Institutions OR
- MSc/MTech/MEin Atmospheric science/ Hydrology/ Water resources/Remote sensing and GIS/ Geo-informatics/ Computer science/ Information Technology/ with first class or > 7.5% OGPA from a recognized university/ institution
Project Assistant:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science/Technology/English/Communication/Journalism/publications with OGPA >7.5 or equivalent from a recognized university. Excellent writing skills in English as evidenced by publications/ reports etc.
Senior Research Fellow (SRF):
- Master’s Degree (M.Sc. / M.Tech.) in Remote Sensing & GIS / Geomatics / Geoinformatics / Data Science or equivalent from a recognized university / institution. Master’s Degree in the above subject with 4 years / 5 years of Bachelor’s degree. Those with 3 years bachelor’s degree must have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET/ MHRD-GATE qualification or Ph.D in any of above disciplines. OR M.Sc. in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry/Agronomy/Chemistry/Biochemistry) with first class / OGPA>7.5 from a recognized university/ institution.
- M.Sc. (Agronomy/ Soil Science / Ag Statistics)with first class / OGPA>7.5 from a recognized university/institution OR Master’s degree with specialization in Soil Science & Agricultural chemistry (SSAC)/ Environmental Science (with thesis work) with first class / OGPA>7.5 from a recognized university/ institution. At least one year of research experience post-degree in soil and plant chemical analysis
- MSc with specialization in Environmental Sciences with thesis work / Soil Science OR MSc/MTech/ME/MCA in computer science/ Information Technology/Remote Sensing-GIS/Atmospheric science/ Geomatics / Geoinformatics / Data Science/ System analyst/ or equivalent from a recognized university/ institution with first class or >7.5% OGPA -year experience in R&D/ Academic/ Science and Technology Organizations. Should have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET/ MHRD-GATE qualification or passed National Level examinations conducted by Central Govt Departments and their agencies and Institutions
YP II:
- MSc/MTech/ME/MCA in computer science/ Information Technology/ Data Science/ or any branch of Agriculture from a recognized university/ institution with first class or >7.5% OGPA from a recognized university/ institution.
Master’s degree in Microbiology/Biotechnology/Environmental Science or equivalent with first class or >7.5% OGPA ) from a recognized university/ institution. OR Master’s Degree in Microbiology/Agricultural Microbiology/ Biochemistry with first class or >7.5% OGPA from a recognized university/ institution.
