North-Eastern Space Applications Centre: It was set up with a joint initiative of DOS and NEC in September 2000 at Shillong in Meghalaya. The centre has been declared as a protected area by the state government. This centre presently focuses on a satellite communication programme and space science research programmes, Remote sensing and Geographic information systems. The objective of NESAC is to search and utilise the natural resources present in the region using remote sensing.

Research Scientist:
- First class in M.E./M.Tech in Remote Sensing/ Geoinformatics or equivalent or Computer Science/ Information Technology or equivalent. With B.E/ B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent or Computer Science Engineering/ Information Technology or equivalent or Geoinformatics/ Geomatics or equivalent.
Senior Research Fellow:
- First class in M.Sc. in Geography/ Remote Sensing & GIS/ Geoinformatics/ Disaster Management or equivalent. With Two years of research experience.
Junior Research Fellow:
- First class in M.Tech./M.Sc in Geoinformatics/ Remote Sensing & GIS/ Spatial Information Science or equivalent with First class Graduation in Engineering/ Science. OR
- First class in M.Tech in Geology/ Applied Geology/ Earth Science or equivalent with Geology as Main/ Major subject in B.Sc. from recognized Institute in First class. OR First class in M.Sc. Tech in Geology/ Applied Geology/ Earth Science or equivalent with Geology as Main/ Major subject in B.Sc. from recognized Institute in First class. OR First class in M.Sc. in Geology/ Applied Geology/ Earth Science or equivalent with Geology as Main/ Major subject in B.Sc. from recognized Institute in First class. OR

NESAC Recruitment Selection Process :
- For Research Scientist the qualification prescribed is the minimum requirement and possession of the same does not automatically make the candidates eligible to be called for interview.
- A duly constituted Screening Committee shall screen the applications received for the posts based on the following: 80% weightage on marks obtained in the qualifying degree (Essential Qualification), 20% weightage on experience on the relevant field [full marks for 4 years or more and proportionately for any period (one completed months) below 4 years]. Minimum experience period should be 6 months.
- For Senior Research Fellow & Junior Research Fellow the qualification prescribed is the minimum requirement and possession of the same does not automatically make the candidates eligible to be called for interview. A duly constituted Screening Committee shall screen the applications received for the posts whose decision shall be final.
