The Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) is a national centre for information, education and research in ornithology and natural history in India. It was inspired by and named in honour of Salim Ali, the leading pioneer of ornithology in India. It is an autonomous organisation established in 1990 as a public- NGO partnership between the MoEF&CC, and the Bombay Natural History Society(BNHS) under the Centre of Excellence Scheme and registered under the Indian Societies Registration Act. Its headquarters are at Anaikatti, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India.

Job Role: Junior Research Fellow/Junior Research Biologist/Senior Research Fellow
Qualification: PG
Salary: Rs.31,000 – 35,000/-

Educational Qualification:
Junior Research Fellow/Junior Research Biologist:
- Postgraduate degree with minimum 55% marks in Wildlife Biology/ Zoology/Conservation Biology/ Biodiversity and Conservation/ Animal Sciences/ Environment Science/Conservation and Animal Science related subjects
- Desirable: Candidates who have cleared CSIR/UGC-NET or GATE exams. Prior experience in studying birds/ fishes, Experience in ecological data collection, analysis and Report writing.
Senior Research Fellow:
- Postgraduate degree in Zoology/ Environmental Studies/ Wildlife Biology with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks from a recognized University. Minimum two years of research experience in related fields, Minimum of one research publication in a peer-reviewed journal 3) working knowledge of Tamil language
- Desirable: Research experience in avifaunal studies/ Environmental Impact Assessments/ Wildlife surveys. Expertise in Bird identification, ecological data collection, analysis and report writing, Good command over English & Tamil, and Good writing skills.
Age Limit:
- Junior Research Fellow/Junior Research Biologist – 28 years
- Senior Research Fellow – 32 years
